Think Việt, Tiếng Việt
Helping tiny learners grow their Vietnamese roots.
Our Story
I married into a Vietnamese American family without fully understanding how deeply culture shapes daily life. At first, it was exciting, a whole new world of food, language, traditions, and community. But everything changed when we found out we were expecting our first child.
Suddenly, Vietnamese wasn’t just something around me. It was something I wanted my child to grow up in.
I joined Vietnamese mom groups, read everything I could, and watched how other communities supported their heritage languages. But for Vietnamese families, the options were painfully limited. Moms were creating their own books, printing worksheets, stitching together resources from YouTube and cartoons. And the apps that existed felt incomplete, rushed, or too advanced for toddlers. Nothing truly taught Vietnamese, especially not for little ones.
So, I did what I could: I taught myself Vietnamese using adult resources, then translated everything for my daughter. And somehow, it worked. She learned from cartoons, from play, from our daily routines. Strangers understood her Vietnamese instantly. While my husband was at work, she was becoming fluent, and I was learning right alongside her.
That’s when I realized: I knew what I was doing. And other families needed this too.
I tried building a physical curriculum binder, but it didn’t fit how toddlers learn. Then it clicked. The same reading apps preschoolers use every day could be translated into a Vietnamese world. I could code. I could build. I could create something that didn’t exist yet.
Not just an app. A virtual Vietnamese preschool: magical, gentle, playful, and made for tiny learners.
Vilingo is our family’s love letter to Vietnamese culture. It started with one mom trying to give her daughter roots. Now it’s growing into a place where other families can do the same.

The Approach
Vilingo is built on one core belief: children learn language best through immersion: gently, naturally, and playfully.
That’s why the entire app is in tiếng Việt, just like a real preschool environment. The only English you’ll ever see is in the parent portal. Everything your child taps, hears, or interacts with is Vietnamese, presented in a way that feels warm and intuitive, not overwhelming.
Every single word in the app includes clear, tappable pronunciation, helping little ears attune to tones, rhythm, and natural speech patterns. Toddlers don’t memorize vocabulary: they absorb it through repetition, sound, and joyful interaction. Vilingo is designed exactly for that.
And this isn’t just for kids who already hear Vietnamese at home. The app is built so any family can jump in, even with zero previous knowledge. The pace is slow. The activities are gentle. The experience is thoughtful and calming, never rushed, never stressful.
Vilingo is a place where your whole family can learn together, one tiny moment at a time.
